An antique opal and diamond dress ring on 18ct gold, with personal inscription.
This is a beautifully made chunky ring dating to the early 1900s has real presence on the hand. IT features 3 opal cabochon stones. The central stone is 0.64ct with colour plays through green, blue and orange. There are two further shoulder stones totalling a further .48ct between them, giving this piece over 1ct of opals. The plays of colour are beautiful and very clear, particularly in the shoulder stones.
The opals are accented by 4 old brilliant cut diamonds of colour G/H and clarity SI1/SI2, of around .05ct each (total diamond weight .20ct). The stones are set in an engraved gallery and pierced detailing between the stones.
The ring weighs in at a solid 4.5g and the bank is tested as 18ct gold. Although not hallmarked this piece is dated to the early 1900s by nature of a personal inscription inside which reads "P.B Xmas 1904".
