Antique opal and ruby boat ring on 9ct gold
Antique opal and ruby boat ring on 9ct gold
This stunning antique ring was made in the 1880s and features 3 graduating oval shaped opal stones of around .40 and .33ct each. The opals have a stunning play of colour and are separated with two accent ruby stones between each one.
All set in fully hallmarked 9ct gold, which has taken on a rosy hue due to its age.
The hallmarks on this piece are lovely and clear save for the assay mark (chester) which is slightly rubbed.
It is possible the opals are replacements as they are in very good condition for the overall age of the ring. One opal is very slightly loose/out of place in the setting however as it sits within claws, which are in good condition, it is secure and just has a slight rattle.
The date stamp appears to read 1886 however as the assay office is not clear, this could also be 1908.
